Our goal for this Volunteer Trail Day is to bench cut and hand dig sections of trail at Lula Lake's new network of trails.
This volunteer trail day is focused on bench cutting a roughly 2 mile section of trail along the coal tailings at Lula Lake Land Trust's new network of trails located at the Durham region of Lookout Mountain. Please plan to meet at the location provided, here there will be restrooms and water. At 9:15am, we will caravan together to the worksite approximately 8 miles south and park our vehicles there, hiking into the work area.
The goal of this newly developing network is to compliment the 5 Points trail system, and to offer a new system of trails to access the beauty of the Rock Creek Watershed and highlight the regions history. We will be focused on clearing corridor, bench cutting, and rock removal along with some tread-work.
All tools will be provided however, please bring any food and water you may need for this trail day.
Below is a map of the Durham Network.
