a couple of my theorys ; The "Space" Theory: Given the presence of three moons and the fact that humans are smaller than typical Earth fauna while dragons thrive, some theorists suggest the series takes place on an alien planet where humans are a non-native, stranded species. The Parasite Theory: Rather than eroding a soul, some theorize animus magic is a sentient, parasitic force. Proponents point to how Anemone’s talons felt "cold and hard" and Turtle’s talons felt "as if they did not belong to him". This theory suggests the magic slowly takes over the host's motor functions to "cast its own spells".
