Happiest of Thursdays! For today's post -- I wanted to share my Go-to, Tried-and-true, most favoritest smoothie recipe of ALL-TIME: The 'BELLY-BUSTING BERRY SMOOTHIE'. I discovered this recipe years and years ago, and every time I've got a hankering for a smoothie -- this recipe ALWAYS comes through. The description of it is: "Here, creamy banana melds together with metabolism-boosting berries (blueberries and raspberries contain the flavonoid anthocyanin, which is associated with lower glucose levels, fewer cravings, and increased metabolism) in a simple shake that's as filling as it is tasty. 'The nut butter provides healthy fats and protein to keep you satisfied for a few hours and keep blood sugars steady', explains celebrity nutritionist Lisa DeFazio, author of 'The Women's Health Big Book of Smoothies and Soups.' 'This prevents mindless snacking on high-sugar, high-calories foods that contribute to weight gain.' Bonus: Thanks to banana's high potassium content, this shake helps CRUSH BLOATING." I also want to personally say that IT IS DELICIOUS. And one thing that wasn't even mentioned here is that it has a whopping 11 grams of fiber! (Just to give you an idea: most food items have 1-2 grams of fiber, if any at all. 4 grams is considered high-fiber.) It's easy to throw together, super refreshing, filling, ultra-fibery and nutritious! And it DEBLOATS you, to boot! DIANA TIP: If you use frozen strawberries and/or blueberries for this smoothie -- you won't need to add the handful of ice as the smoothie will already be plenty icy. :) What's your favorite smoothie recipe? Try adding protein, water and frozen fruit like berries and it's a delicious refreshing smoothie! If you can find a protein powder with creatine that's even better because it expands in your stomach allowing you to feel full longer! I wish I could prepare those smoothies but I don't have a magic bullet anymore!

Yeah, I actually did buy some protein powder to add to this smoothie. And I had no idea about the creatine thing. VERRRY interesting. You can find a Magic Bullet at least than $30 nowadays. Just setting a bit of money aside could get you a Magic Bullet system and then you'd be good to go with these delish smoothies! They're the PERFECT way in which you rev up our metabolism in the morning. :)
