Pick a European (or a surrounding one) country and I will give you a paragraph (or a few) partially historically relating to that country.

For France: 435: The Salian Franks were a subgroup of the Franks who formed a 'barbarian' alliance with the Roman Empire, allowing them to settle in border areas. Facing the decline of the Western Roman Empire, the Salians needed to decide whether to faithfully guard the imperial border, or to inherit the power of the Western Roman Empire in Gaul 530: The Frankish Kingdom was a Germanic Kingdom (FRANCE IS JUST LATINIZED GERMANY) founded by Clovis I, the leader of the Salian Franks, who unified all of the Frankish tribes. As a former 'barbarian' ally of the Western Roman Empire, the Frankish Kingdom inherited the power and legacy of the Empire in Gaul and smoothly and quickly rose to become the hegemon of Gaul. 850: After the Frankish Kingdom was divided into three parts by the Treaty of Verdun, Charles the Bald (?) established West Francia on the basis of the western territory of the original kingdom. West Francia inherited the core areas of the former Frankish Kingdom, as well as its hidden dangers: turbulent borders and a powerful aristocracy. I will continue at some point... (This was for France, as this time was a BIT less complicated than Britain.)
